Home Performance with Energy Star

June 2013 - J. Myers Builders, Inc. has been nominated for a Department of Energy 2013 Housing Innovations Award for our work with the NH Home Performance with Energy Star program.

Is your home cold, drafty, or uncomfortably hot? Do you have high energy bills, ice dams on your roof, peeling paint or excessive dust?

These are common problems found in homes that may not be as energy efficient as they could be and can benefit from a whole-house energy improvement. Investing in home performance work can make your home more comfortable, and at the same time improve its energy efficiency — saving you money on utility bills and helping to protect the environment, too.

Home Performance with ENERGY STAR can help improve your home’s comfort, indoor air quality, and safety, while lowering your utility bills. In New Hampshire, the Home Performance with Energy Star program is sponsored by many of the utility companies.

Based on recommendations made by your certified building analyst, you could receive an incentive of 50% up to $4,000 of the installed costs of the recommended energy efficiency improvements. There is a $100 audit fee that is refundable if improvements recommended by your building analyst are implemented. Audit fee is due at the time of the audit.

Homeowners can apply through their electric company or by going to NHSaves.com.  Once your application has been approved by the utility company, you will be contacted to schedule the energy audit of your home.

J. Myers Builders, Inc. has been a contractor for the Home Performance with Energy Star program since October 2009.

What makes a Home Performance with ENERGY STAR participating contractor different?

Knowing what energy efficiency improvements to make in a home and how they can work together requires special expertise.  Participating contractors are equipped with specialized training and diagnostic tools to determine how your home is performing.  The energy audit and recommendations are completed by auditors certified by the Building Performance Institute (BPI).

How can I find out more information about the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program?

Here is what our customers have to say about the Home Performance with ENergy Star Program:

Tim, Thornton

I was very pleased with the Home Performance program. Things were explained to me as to what was being done every step of the way. Everyone involved with the program was cooperative and helpful.  The crew from J. Myers Builders was very cooperative and timely. They were always hard at work and never hesitated to ask my input or explain what they were doing through the entire process.

Deb, Milan

The experience with this program was very smooth from start to finish. Appointments were kept, explanations regarding financing were given and the work was done in a timely fashion. I noticed the difference almost right away as the weather was still chilly. My home seemed to retain heat better.  The crews from J. Myers Builders that did the work at my home were outstanding. They knew what needed to be done. They were very timely and professional. They did a "bang up" job!

Homeowner, Bethlehem

My experience was great. The online process was easy, the wait time for the audit was short and the work was completed in 1/2 the time expected. The crew was efficient and informative.  I have already told many friends about the program.
